team.The Director plays a significant role in both the development
and execution of revenue operations projects and processes. They
serve as an internal expert on gift acceptance policies and
procedures as well as IRS rules regarding recording and receipting
charitable gifts and manage the Revenue Operations team to ensure
accurate and timely reconciliation and clean financial audits. The
Director initiates projects to strengthen internal operations with
an eye toward operational efficiency and positive donor experience.
The leadership of the Director is critical in managing donation
processing, financial reconciliation, and maintaining database
integrity within Share Our Strength, particularly in the Raiser's
Edge database. They drive operational efficiencies, uphold
stringent data quality standards, and lead the team in timely donor
acknowledgments and receipts. Additionally, the role entails
championing the documentation and refinement of operational
protocols crucial to the Revenue Operations
department.Collaboration with the Controller and CFO is essential,
as the Director identifies need for, initiates, and oversees
projects to optimize internal processes, facilitate month-end
reconciliations, and support strategic initiatives aligned with
organizational objectives.This position is preferably based in
Washington, DC (Hybrid-2 days per week), but could be fully remote
for the right candidate living outside of the DC area 30 miles or
more. The position offers a salary range of $115k -$125k. Exact
compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on
skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical
location.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the subject matter expert and lead internal efforts
for the treatment, coding, and reconciliation of all incoming
revenue.
- Manage Share Our Strength's fiduciary responsibilities related
to revenue, including oversight of cash flow processes, gift
batching, gift coding assignments, and revenue booking
procedures.
- Work closely with the relationship managers to ensure
compliance with internal policies and IRS regulations for
charitable gifts and clean financial audits. Oversee maintenance of
appropriate records of batches, paper files (e.g., check scans,
documentation of donor restrictions) and other records related to
contributions, in accordance with both IRS and Share Our Strength
guidelines.
- Serve as internal lead for revenue questions during the
quarterly reporting and annual audit.
- Ensure all revenue transactions are recorded, and adjustments
are posted to the General Ledger.
- Provide expertise on gift acceptance policies and procedures
and ensure donor intent is honored through accuracy of all
gift/donation records and deposits.
- Support and train fundraising teams to troubleshoot
gift-related issues, coding, adjustments, and receipting.
- Manage and develop the Revenue Operations team, conducting
annual performance reviews and fostering growth.
- Oversee vendor relationships that support revenue entry into RE
NXT to ensure quality controls.
- Review daily and monthly financial reports to ensure data has
been entered accurately.
- Generate financial reports for fundraising teams to ensure
review of data entry.
- Manage in-office visits for check processing and mail
handling.
- Supervise revenue imports and drive continuous improvement
initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of revenue
processing.
- Execute revenue operations tasks, including the accurate entry
of donations and gifts-in-kind, prevention of duplicate revenue
entries, and timely application of payments to outstanding pledges
and related opportunities.
- Ensure supporting documents for donations are saved for audit
support.
- Meet month-end financial closing deadlines.
- Along with the Controller and CFO, ensure that revenue from all
receipting platforms (including the eCRM) is recorded completely
and accurately and that funds are transmitted promptly to Share Our
Strength's operating bank account. Manage adjustments and refunds
from all receipting platforms. Monitor new and inactive receipting
platforms.
- Maintain an open opportunity report daily and coordinate with
fundraisers to maintain accuracy.
- Work with relationship managers to ensure pledges are recorded
and paid promptly.
- Manage overdue pledges and collaborate with relationship
managers to ensure timely write-offs and write-downs.
- Ensure that there are departmental procedures, reference
guides, and other training materials to ensure compliance with
revenue and receipting policies and standards.
- Work with the relationship managers to ensure all gifts are
entered and linked to the appropriate opportunity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across teams to ensure all
adjustments are entered monthly.
- Ensure staff are appropriately trained to post all
revenue.
- Manage the creation and mapping of all GL account codes in
RE.
- Serve as point of contact for financial reconciliation between
Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge database, and coordinate
adjustments and reclasses for transactions.
- Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to
be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring this value is
embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
- Ability to work during peak fundraising
periods.SUPERVISION:This position manages a team of three with
growth expected.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required, and 5 - 8 years
of relevant work experience, preferably in non-profit operations,
accounting, or finance.
- 3 - 5 years' experience with Raiser's Edge/RE NXT or other CRM.
Experience with financial accounting software preferred: Blackbaud
Luminate (Convio) and Financial Edge/FE NXT experience are a plus.
Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel) strongly preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software specific to
the department or institution and train users on database and gift
processing policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of applicable IRS
regulations regarding philanthropic contributions and Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong knowledge of gift processing procedures, established
record of database management, fundraising processes, and donor
relations.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels of an
organization and work successfully with them.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, time management and
organizational skills required. An ability to manage multifaceted
projects and a capacity to perform well independently in a
fast-paced, multi-tasking environment essential.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills,
including the ability to identify and work through challenges, are
underscored by strong judgment and emotional
