At the American Heart Association, your contribution matters, and so does your career.The American Heart Association has an opening for a Senior Development Director located in the Metro Baltimore area reporting to the VP of Development. This position is a Home-Office based position. The Senior Director Development will plan, organize, and direct the Baltimore market's Gala Heart Ball and Go Red for Women campaigns. This includes coaching and supervising assigned staff and collaborating with corporate and community leaders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising efforts.Responsibilities

  • Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals. Accountable for hiring, directing, training, evaluating, and terminating staff under their supervision.
  • Ensure your team meets/exceeds annual revenue goals for the Baltimore market.
  • Engage, recruit, and mobilize CEOs, corporate leaders, and community leaders to serve on Heart Ball and Go Red For Women volunteer leadership committees and chair the event to ensure fundraising and health outcome success.
  • Lead existing and new sponsorships and relationships to achieve campaign goals through cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and deepening engagement.
  • Lead all aspects of coordinated planning processes for the Heart Ball and Go Red For Women health and revenue efforts.
  • Develop and lead/monitor Heart Ball and Go Red for Women budget within span of control and internal business operations in accordance with policies, fiscal standards, and the approved operating budget.
  • Prepare plans, documents, and communications for GAP (getting to goal) meetings, revenue projection updates, and other priority meetings.
  • Supervise event logistics including event promotions, entertainment, and live and silent auctions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement market strategies.Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in corporate sales or fundraising with at least one year supervising staff with a revenue goal.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; college coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor staff to ensure that revenue targets are reached.
  • Ability to successfully identify, cultivate, recruit, and maintain relationships with senior level volunteers/customers.
  • Validated experience in exceeding sales/fundraising goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and social skills.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal hours including early morning, evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation.Compensation - Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $76,000 to $95,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
