Job Description:
Neustar, Inc. seeks a Senior Information Security Engineer in
Sterling, VA Duties: Plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor IT security
operations practices and procedures. Manage firewalls, including access
control policies, objects, and tuning. Perform denial of service
investigation through packet analysis. Utilize understanding of network
security best practices and policies to provide support for security
incidents, including internal violations, DDoS attacks, zero day vulnerabilities, and
system outages. Research, evaluate, and develop new security
technologies, methodologies, and solutions. Leverage knowledge of industry
leading firewalls, networking protocols, Linux/Windows security
administration, endpoint security, and virtualization technologies to provide
operational support for network security operations. Create and maintain
documentation for information security designs, network and security
configurations, and standard operating procedures, and ensure appropriate security
controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital
electronic infrastructure. Develop and document process improvements and
network procedures in order to improve security operations. Support and
enforce information security policies, standards, and processes, and
perform security risk assessments to ensure appropriate network controls
are in place to prevent security breaches and viruses. Keep up to date
with ever changing DDoS landscape. Education and Experience: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science,
Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a
related field and two (2) years of experience performing network and
firewall security engineering, OR, alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree (or
foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,
Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field and five (5)
years of experience as indicated above. Special Requirements: Also requires demonstrated expertise (DE): performing network
security engineering, including configuration, maintenance, and
modification of Cisco ASA, Juniper MX series routers and SRX gateways,
Checkpoint, Citrix NetScaler, and firewalls, based on customer requirements; DE
performing remote access systems development for firewalls and VPN; DE
analyzing Layer 3 through Layer 7 packet data in order to resolve security
related issues and DDoS attacks; DE setting virtualization security for
deploying VMware, and performing scripting to automate security requirements using
Perl, Python, BASH, and Shell Scripting; DE analyzing DDoS attack
patterns and mitigation, including administering and deploying advanced
configurations on Arbor Peakflow systems; DE in DDoS attack patterns,
mitigation techniques and technologies; DE configuring Cisco enterprise
switches using CAT OS; and DE interfacing with internal and external customers
to analyze networks, troubleshoot security issues, and set access
